The grass is always greener on the other side
"Information is not knowledge, knowledge is not wisdom, wisdom is not truth, truth is not beauty, beauty is not love, and love is not music...
music is the best, and wisdom is the domain of the wiz,
which is extinct,
Beauty is a french phonetic corruption of a short cloth neck ornament, currently in resurgence...
Ultimately, who gives a F*** anyways?"

Thankgiving to All
In response to other reviews, more than the show. This show itself is pretty good, not an east coaster, only see em out here in california, so can't compare crowds, scenes, nothing. I think many of us go to these shows with open ears, and have a ton of fun, and some are still grieving, years later, the loss of a wonderful musician whose time came early due a lazy lifestyle with food and drugs.
I am, but still love seeing these guys play.
I agree with the soundboard remark, John is too low at every show i go to, I often hold my hands to my ears to up his volume during his solos, which is a huge pain in the neck while i'm dancing wildly...
That being said, one's man gathers what another man spills.....
We all love good music or wouldn't be here listening nor reviewing. Blessings to all of you who still go and support the great vibes and music!

response to HeadMaine
While you are entitled to your opinion HeadMaine, you are clearly the minority in these reviews. I too have seen my share of GD, JGB, Ratdog, Phil and Friends etc. starting in the early 80's. Nothing will ever replace the Grateful Dead and nobody will ever replace Jerry, however, these guys, in my opinion, are becoming far superior to Ratdog and some of the Phil and Friends bands. I was at the Maine show recently and absolutely loved it. I go into any post Jerry show knowing it's not Jerry and not expecting it to be the same, but it is great fun nonetheless. If it's making other people happy, why not continue?... just because you're not happy with it? Just don't go anymore and go see Max Creek instead.(FYI, I love Max Creek too)
As for this show, haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but it sounds great so far.

Your opinion
Last two dudes: Yes you are entitled to it, but your opinions sound pretty spoiled to me. This was a great, fun show.
They should hang it up? Whytf would they do that?
Welp, we know what opinions are like.

Mediocre Show
I was at Mohegan and Further just didn't have it that night. I thought maybe it was me, but my gal thought the same. The set list was fabulous, but there was no flow, no magic - an average show at best. The music just didn't take us away, and isn't that why we go, to be brought to that place for a few hours? John's volume was too low in the mix which may have been a factor, and the overall volume could have been louder. So the soundman may have been partly to blame. Just an aside, but the light show is awful. I saw them at SPAC in July and what an incredible show!! Then again, it was SPAC. Just blew us away and we danced rather passionately all night and especially in the 2nd set. It was a workout! So Further is capable, certianly as much as Ratdog and Phil. Oh well. I think that Further is somewhat hit or miss, and unlike Mr Maine, I'm willing to chance it to see if they will produce that magic on a given night. I am surprised at the number of glowing reviews night after night. That just shows the varying tastes and expectations, and the bottom line is if so many people are that happy, then what a beautiful thing.

Musical downfall of my one time hero's !
Caught the show in Portland last friday night just for old time sake,to kind of check in and see just what the hub-bub was all about.Man was I dissappointed.I get the appeal of a younger generation trying to grasp onto something that in itself was once mythical and magical. As a veteran of of over 250 Dead,JGB,Bobby and the Midnites,Phil lesh and friends shows.I hate to say it but in my opinion the train done left the station and they should just put it to rest.I know all about the pushing the envelope "FURTHUR".But to tell you the truth they ought to just hang it up and call it a day.Go back to Ratdog,Phil and Friends (Which I thought was the best of all the different incarnations since ol'Jer passed over to the other side ,whereever that may be).Let's be honest guy's your living on something that will never be again. The playing is sloppy and the vocal's are just awful.Give it up and put it to rest,it's done! On August 9th 1995 it all came crashing down to a finality that alot of us old timers saw coming, wished we didn't have to witness the things that happened on the last Grateful Dead tour.If Jerry could have gotten clean and the crowds had learned that if you don't have a ticket don't bother to show up,then who knows what might have been but, that is something that none of us can or would have been able to predict. For my money I'll take Max Creek over these guy's hands down.Sorry but that's just the way I feel and seeing that we still do live in America screwed up as she may be, I'm still entitled to express my opinion no matter how many may dissagree.

Fabulous recording
Great AUD, thanks!
One note, at least on the VBR MP3 download the ID3 tags say 2001-11-05. Not a big deal, easy to fix, but I figured I'd be "that guy" and point it out.
